In my practice as a dental hygienist, I affirm my personal and professional commitment to improve the oral health of the public, to advance the art and science of dental hygiene, and to promote high standards of quality care. I pledge continually to improve my professional knowledge and skills, to render a full measure of service to each patient entrusted to my care, and to uphold the highest

standards of professional competence and personal conduct in the interest of the dental hygiene profession and the public it serves.

Our Next Meeting...

 

The next BCDHA meeting will be on Wednesday February 17th. The topic will be "Update in Modern Orthodontics." Our guest speaker will be  Dr. Jeff Barlow. The meeting fee is free for ADHA members and $15.00 for non-members. The meeting is for two CEUs and will be from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00.  Seating is limited. Please RSVP to splas@att.net.

BCC SADHA members are selling tee shirts for $15.00.  Support our students members and future Registered Dental Hygienists!

All meetings are held at the Central Brevard Library, 308 Forrest Avenue in Cocoa unless otherwise noted. Meetings begin at 7:00 pm. Due to state regulation, if you arrive after the CEU begins or leave before it ends, you will not receive your CEU.  BCDHA registers with CE Broker.

We are collecting items to donate to the Brevard Women's Center.  Please see the Calendar page for a list of requested items.

Find out about new topics in dentistry  and earn CEU's. Our Calendar of Events is in the process of being updated for the 2009 - 2010 season. Please check the web page for upcoming meetings and CEU details. There will be no meetings for May, June, July, & August.

Jill and Bob Brown and family lost 80%  of their home due to fire on Sunday November 15th.  An account has been set up at Regions Bank. You will need their address to make a donation: 1408 Earl Drive, Merritt Island, Fl 32952.  You can also contact Mona at the Georgian Church Office 452-7523 to see how you can help. They did not have insurance.to help with the replacement and repair.

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Fundraiser

For the past several years, Connie Maltby, RDH and her family have supported The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through Team In Training.  Connie ran both the Disney Half-Marathon and Marathon for the Team.  This year, her husband David is hitting the road to complete the Disney Half Marathon with the Team.  He’s running in honor of Daniel Loftis, 38 year old father of 5 and Lymphoma survivor.  Check out David’s website and make a donation if you can!  Go to http://pages.teamintraining.org/cfl/wdw10/dmaltby   

Prevention of Medical Errors CEU  & Support FDHA

Our thanks to all who supported BCDHA by attending the Prevention of Medical Errors course in March. Linda Harvey, RDH, MS, who presented the course, now has a PME self-study course available through her website: http://www.lindaharvey.net/training/. 

If you were not able to attend the March meeting, you can still take the self study course and support FDHA at the same time. Linda's company donates $5 back to FDHA for every person who indicates they are an FDHA member. Be sure to  indicate this information on the ‘How did you hear about us?’ question on the course registration form.

Did you know that licensure requirements can change each biennium..

Don't be caught off guard for the renewal deadline.  The biennium's continuing education requirements have changed. You can view the new list of required courses and hours needed by checking out the Florida Department of Dentistry Continuing Education Requirements web page.  Remember that CE Broker will be flagging down health professionals who do not fulfill requirements.  Not sure if your course is recognized but CE Broker? Contact them at https://www.cebroker.com/public/pb_index.asp before the renewal period expires  in February 2010.
