As I take the office of Presidency for the Brevard County Dental Hygiene Association, I would like to thank everyone for letting me be your President. During this time, I think of what I would like to accomplish to have a successful year. One of my personal goals is to increase public knowledge of our association. To let them know WE are their Dental Hygiene Association! We are working towards improving our profession and broadening our knowledge.
Community service is a very important part of BCDHA. This year we are partnering once again with Sherryl Worst and The Smile Angel Foundation, as well as Space Coast Volunteers in Medicine. Members of our component, including myself, are also volunteering their time and skills too Special Olympics Florida during their Fall Classic November 11-12, 2016 by performing dental health screenings for the Special Smiles program.
Another goal is to increase membership by getting hygienists and future hygienists excited about networking and education by attending our monthly CEU meetings. This year in addition to our regular monthly meetings, in October, we are offering an all-day CE meeting that’s including all required CEs for this biennium; including Medical Errors, Domestic Violence, and Infection Control.
BCDHA is also continuing our partnership with Eastern Florida State College by providing mentors to both first and second year dental hygiene students. The mentor program is a very important part that we play in aiding in the education of future dental hygienist. As mentors we instill the importance of being a part of our association, as well as the importance of comradery with fellow dental hygienists.
In closing, I would like to thank you again for allowing me the privilege and honor to serve as your President. I look forward to seeing you at our monthly meetings!
Amanda Hunt, CRDH
BCDHA President 2016-2017
